5 tips for grieving
When a person is grieving, it is a most difficult time. Each person will grieve in their own way and their own time frame. Because of that, it is best not to compare your grief to others.
Here are 5 tips to help understand your grief:
1. When grieving, everyone needs some help, so please don’t hesitate to ask for help and do accept help from others.
2. You may feel like putting on a brave front when around others. Let your needs be known to others so they can support you. Others can not read your mind to know your needs. It is important for you to express them.
3. Listen to yourself and trust your needs. If you need people to be with you ask them. Because you may need more support at the beginning of bereavement, doesn’t mean it will be that way forever.
4. Grieving has no time limit. You don’t need to put pressure on yourself by thinking you should be “over your grief” by now. Just give yourself enough time to grieve. That for some may be weeks, months, or even years.
5. Your grief may be more intense than you expected. Be okay with that and realize that it is a normal part of grieving.
