How many times have you said, “I forgive you, but I can’t forget!” We have done it with our family, our friends, and even our enemies. Little do we know that peace which passes all understanding can only come from full forgiveness?
Jesus has taught us true forgiveness when he told us “Your sins are forgiven and I remember them no more.”
Pat Bluth opens up her whole life to the reader in her book, “From Pain to Peace.” She leaves nothing out. The pain begins with the death of her daughter, Tammy in a car accident. But not a normal accident, but one caused by a drunk driver and he of course lives. But a young full life is taken away.
Pat takes us from that point and begins a journey day by day, month by month of the grief, anger, frustration and determination to make this right. Her daughter Tammy is gone forever and the words from family and friends give her no peace, only greater sorrow.
So walk with Pat on this journey and you will come to a greater understanding of how you appear to people who are living with the pain of death when a loved one has died.
As an employee of a funeral home this book opened my eyes to a new way I approach people in their grief. But also for me in my Christian walk of faith this book was instrumental in me seeing for the first time that true and lasting peace can only come when I forgive and never remember it again.

Wow! What a witness to God’s healing grace if we give Him a chance. Pat’s story is a great example of how forgiveness brings peace in the grief journey. Thanks for sharing.

Very well documented account of a heart-wrenching time for a mother.  The trials and tribulations that followed her daughter’s death could only be overcome  by the grace of God.  To have reached forgiveness of the drunk driver who was responsible and to now know peace is a miracle–a gift made possible through the power of faith.

In reading From Pain to Peace, I re-lived the death of my daughter, of finding her lying peacefully on her couch, of learning the cause of death six months later as a suicide.  I re-lived the months of understanding suffering, but not of understanding the joy of suffering.  It brought back memories, brought back the struggle with focusing, the struggle with finding a meaning of her death.  I cried with Pat.  I found reading of her story healing, bringing understanding and acceptance.  Any of us who have lost a child will find healing and understanding by reading Pat’s story. — Esther

This book, “From Pain to Peace,” is a must-read for anyone who has suddenly and tragically lost a loved one, particularly where driving under the influence was involved.   I’ve already bought copies for friends who unfortunately lost a child unnecessarily because of the careless judgment of someone who took the wheel while impaired.
Pat Bluth’s passion for helping others find peace through the journey she endured and successfully dealt with, in large measure due to her faith, will make a difference in your own life as well.

What a joy to read of Pat’s experience using God’s gift of forgiveness.  This gift is for all when we are searching for peace with others.  “From Pain to Peace” is a “can’t put it down” book and a must read for those  not only whose hearts are heavy but  for those who help relieve that load.  ” The test of our love to God is the love we have for another.” Thank you  for  sharing your life in this sad but uplifting book.
